FAQ
What is dermal filler?
Dermal filler is made up of Hylauronic Acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring substance already found within the body. Our results are based on using the top 5 FDA-approved brands of dermal filler including Juvederm® and Restylane®.
How long does treatment take?
Appointments can take around 30 minutes. This includes an in-depth consultation, application of anaesthetic (medical strength topical numbing cream), administration of filler, massage, and complete aftercare advice.
How do I know which amount to choose?
If you find yourself unsure of what syringe size to choose from, then worry not, we are here to help you decide. Amounts and which product is most suitable for you is all part of the initial consultation carried out with your practitioner on the day, prior to any treatment administered. Please select what you think when making your online booking, and remember this can always be changed on the day.
Is treatment painful?
Lips are a sensitive area which is why we try to ensure minimal pain by administering the anaesthetic on the arrival of your appointment, thus allowing enough time for the area to feel completely numb when receiving treatment. The products used also contain the ingredient lidocaine allowing anaesthetic to be injected into the lip with the filler ensuring your procedure is completely tolerable. Local nerve infiltration injections are available on request but are rarely ever required due to a calm but quick procedure and light handling of injections.
How long do fillers last?
Lip fillers last on average last 6-9 months but this can vary depending on several factors including age, metabolism, level of exercise, alcohol intake, and lifestyle. Clients can have treatments when they feel necessary unless advisable by our practitioners. We have introduced the new Juvederm® Vycross range for a longer-lasting experience designed to last up to 12 months in the lips. Just let us know on consultation if this would be your preferred product.
Effects of the treatment are visible immediately and can last up to 6-9 months, again dependant on lifestyle factors, ageing, and genetics.
To get maximum results from your treatment please adhere to the following advice;
For the next 48 hours refrain from any alcohol, strenuous exercise, make-up application, UVA tanning beds, and saunas.
Please remember, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, strenuous exercise, and sun exposure can affect and help to reduce the lifespan of your treatment.
Are there any side effects?
As dermal fillers are made up of a naturally occurring substance it is extremely rare to suffer an allergic reaction. General side effects are some swelling and bruising or sometimes pain at the injection site that can occur after the treatment and these usually subside within 2-3 days post-procedure. If you are to experience anything after that and are worried please contact us and we will put you at ease immediately.
If you are prone to cold sores (herpes) lip augmentation can trigger a breakout. If you are suffering from cold sores at the time of your appointment we are unable to treat you as this is a contraindication and can result in complications.
