FAQ
What is a Tear Trough?
A tear trough is an area that hollows between the lower eyelid and the cheeks, most commonly described as the undereye.
What is Tear Trough enhancement?
Tear trough enhancement is the ability to place dermal filler along the orbital rim to rejuvenate and add volume loss.
How is it done?
The finest hyaluronic acid dermal filler specifically designed for the undereye is administered using a micro-cannula for ultimate safety and comfort. Minimum downtime or trauma, if any.
When will I see results?
Results are instant and can last up to 12 months, if not longer due to the type of filler we use. However, more than one sitting may be required depending on the desired result and also the existing anatomy. Treatments should be spaced around 6- 8 weeks apart for seamless results.
Will I need a second session?
This fine-grade hyaluronic premium range filler is administered in single sittings. If a second session is necessary, treatment is spaced 6-8 weeks apart for optimum results.
How much will I need?
Juvederm Volbella® is our preferred product when treating the tear troughs due to its light-reflecting properties and power to illuminate the under-eye, eradicating the signs of dark, hollowing eyes.
In younger patients, we can usually treat within one session, sometimes two. In older clientele with more volume loss due to ageing we treat over a period of time. The benefit of using Juvederm® Volbella is that this product is from the Vycross range and is designed to last longer than the everyday range. We use this product as standard in this area as we find we get flawless results every time.
Are there any side effects and is it painful?
Due to our injectors being highly trained in the use of cannula and lidocaine infusion (numbing) this treatment is of minimal pain or sensitivity. General side effects could be possible swelling or tenderness. Some mild fluid retention can sometimes occur after procedure but will settle within a matter of days.
Will it get rid of my dark circles?
Tear trough enhancement will most definitely help to brighten the under-eye if concerns are volume loss or ageing, however, if the concern is caused by hyperpigmentation of the skin, or maybe fine lines and wrinkles is your concern, we will recommend alternative treatments such as peri-ocular peels, medical-grade micro-needling and laser.
